So yesterday a scary situation for Ava Mellenballer and the kids at Southwest Middle here in Palm Bay. They went to school to find the power out. I get an email saying they have been placed in the gym. Next I get an email that power was restored, but seconds later Ava texted me that right next to her something exploded and caught fire. She says police and teachers rush her out to the field. School doesn’t send another message until after I rushed to the school to pick her up to find chaos and huge lines of parents signing their kids out. While there the firetrucks were there and I saw them emerge with Axes and fire suppression equipment. Someone at school recorded this just after Ava ran away but she was sitting next to it. Some kids crying and freaked out over a terrorist attack. After the fact I was sent an email saying their underground electrical system exploded upon turning on power and that students were released.
