It’s been an interesting week for sure! At 29.5 weeks, I decided that my sugar wasn’t doing so good, and that I should probably be put on insulin. So I called my doctor, who is “hospital happy” and he decides, well, I should come in to Southshore and plan on staying a few days. I was like “WHAT!?… a few days!” I went in knowing I wasn’t going to stay that long. That may seem like a careless thought, but in my last pregnancy, I went from nothing to insulin and managed to do a good job and take care of myself well, but this time Im already on pills, doing a good job, and can handle it again from home. I did end up going in, and I spent the night there, just so I could ask to go home in the morning. We had an interesting snow storm that night, and I was extra eager to leave. My doctor was not happy with my request to leave, but it’s was in the best interest of me and baby in stress. Although the staff is great there, and the rooms are good, it stresses me out to be in a hospital. He wrote me my prescriptions for insulin, and so far Im doing ok. I guess I would have been more comfortable had they left me in the nice room with a surgical postpartum bed. But noooooooo, five minutes after I get there, they transfer me to a labor room, with a labor bed…. which to say the least is VERY VERY x 1000 uncomfortable. I wasn’t in labor, didn’t need to be monitored, so I have no idea why they did that. I was only there for sugar regulation.
On Friday, I had my 3D ultrasound! He’s still a boy! And he is so cute, at least from the side shots we got!! ;o) He would not cooperate and turn towards us so we could get a direct face shot. Oh well, it was more than worth the $150. He gave us a peep show….. not letting us see too much of him so that we could still have lots of surprise when he arrives.
Anyway, I have an appointment to see my doc this Monday. I’m hoping he’ll be over his aggravation with me when I show him my glucose numbers, and show him that I am fully capable of handling this on my own.
