~*RIP*~ Pumpkin Kitty

JensNotes | Pura Vida

We brought an orange tabby cat into our house 2 weeks ago.  It was the nicest cat, the most docile and laid back cat ever.  Someone had abandoned it.  We took it in and cared for it, but started to notice something wasn’t right with it. It would urinate where it laid sometimes, and wasn’t eager to eat, drink, or even move around the house.  The first week and a half it had a routine, it would come downstairs and spend the evening curled up on the couch with us at night, then go upstairs and share the bed with us all night long.  During the day it would sleep under the bed.

Today I fed it a dish of cat food, and then it came up on the bed to cuddle with me.  It laid right in between my legs getting snug and warm.  I then noticed he had wet himself again.  I immediately told Matt it’s time to take him to the vets, as we had suspected something was wrong with it.  I said goodbye and I told Chris to say goodbye knowing very well that if it was something serious it may not come home.

So Matt took it to the vet and sure enough they said it had advanced liver disease and was severely jaundiced.  We all just started crying basically because this was the nicest cat in the world.  I bonded with it almost immediately and loved it every single day.  Matt brought back his collar and Chris was just crying hard.

A half hour after Matt got back it started to storm.  I noticed the sun peeked out so I went out back to check for a rainbow in the usual spot.  Sure enough there was a bright rainbow crossing the sky.  I called Chris out and told him that the rainbow was there because pumpkin kitty was trying to tell us it found it’s way to heaven.  It was interesting that it happened so shortly afterwards.  I loved that cat even though we only had it for 2 weeks.  I’m so glad we gave it the best final weeks of it’s life.
