Chris went to his very first sleepover tonight! He has this friend from Kindergarten and he really wanted Chris to come over and spend the night. The mom called me at noon and expressed interest in Chris coming over, so I told her he would love that. Every 2 minutes until 5:00 he asked me how much longer it would be before they arrived to pick him up. By time he left I was going insane! I stared out the door and watched them drive away. That is the first time I have ever given my child to someone I didn’t really know too well. I have never let anyone babysit my kids, except well my mom, sister and brother. I’m nervous about it all, with society the way it is today.
We have been traveling a lot this year. First we went to Vegas at the end of May for a few days. We just got back from Mackinaw City after spending 4 days there. And in a week we are going to Florida again for like 10 days or something. I need these vacations to take my mind off of everything in the past. While we were up north, we went to my dad’s favorite campground, Hoeft State Park, and I buried his ashes in the biodegradable urn they gave me in his favorite spot on the sand dunes. It was far enough back from the water that hopefully no children will dig it up before it bio-degrades! However, we dug it deep enough so that it was sitting in water, just to speed up the process. I took pictures of us doing it, and pictures of the location. It was very emotional, although I tried not to show it in front of my kids. There was nobody on the beach, and there hardly ever is, so I’m not worried too much.
I don’t know what we are going to do when we are in Florida. I imagine we’ll hit up Kennedy Space Center because Matt has been really wanting to go there. We’ll go to one theme park, but I don’t know which one yet. Most of this trip will be strictly relaxation.
When we came back from up north I learned that we had some sort of hail storm. Well two days later it poured rain, and it was raining in our house. I expect that the hail punctured some holes in our roof. So anyway, we’re out thousands of dollars more today. They just got the roof finished when another storm blew in today. I was thinking to myself, just great, I handed a check over to them and now a storm will knock a tree into our roof. It didn’t happen though! It is expected to be a stormy week though. Next we have to get our siding done and that will be the last of the major projects. We plan on selling this house within 5 – 7 years hopefully so we don’t want to do too much to it.
I don’t think we are gonna make it to England in August, we may have to push it back 6 months. Airfare alone is $3500 and then you have to add in another $2000 for the hotel and well as you can see, that is a bit unreasonable. Now that British Airways no longer leaves from DTW, it costs more to go over there. We’d have to fly Virgin Atlantic and that is the cheapest, but still more expensive.
The Wyandotte fireworks are tomorrow night, and i’d really love to go to them this year since I didn’t make it last year, but the weather may not cooperate. I hope it does though. It’s been quite a volatile week weather wise. We haven’t really had anything severe, but there is a chance of it happening almost every single day.
Not too terribly much else going on ride now. I have not been feeling so swell for the past couple days but i’ll get over it hopefully. I’ll update again when I come back from vacation… for the 3rd time in 2 months.
