Joey in the NICU

JensNotes | Pura Vida

Well it’s 8:26a.m. and I was abruptly interrupted in my nice sleep by my 4 year old going “pssssssst” “psssssssssst” silently next to my head.  I was having an interesting dream about an X where the setting was 1997 and that’s about all i’ll say about that at this point!  Although it does make me wonder..

Anyway, I freaked out all day yesterday about possibly having band erosion.  It’s the number one side effect in lapband placements.  It’s where the stomach absorbs the band then digests everything but the silicone part.  Why am I freaked out? Because out of the blue all this week i’ve had extreme nausea and some soreness in my stomach.  I’m not taking my optional meds today just to see if it was one of them, because I am on something new.  Do I sound like a hypochondriac yet?  Actually, I haven’t had so much to complain about in like 8 years.

Last night I went up to see baby Joey and he’s doing really well.  I actually got to hold him but just long enough for a picture.  I told Julie i’m a freak about germs so I didn’t want to get him sick.  I took some nice pictures last night, and I always pride myself in my photographic work.  This child will either hate the camera or love it to death by time all the photos are done.  Anyway, he’s off his oxygen and IV’s and the only thing left is his feeding tube, which they may remove soon.  They keep it in just in case he doesn’t take a bottle.  I’ll post some pictures in this blog when I get time to upload them and resize them.  I got my 2nd prize win from Kodak, which was my new digital camera, valued at about $300.  Its not the most expensive one i’ve owned but it’s nicer than the expensive crappy one I own now.  Never buy a Canon.  Kodak is good.

As for my day, probably a boring one.  I’ll sit here alone on a dreary day with rowdy kids.  I’m still mystified by you two sets of people who read my blog or come to my profile daily… one came forward the other day, just two left  .

All this time with Julie’s baby in the NICU has brought so many memories to life from when Andrew spent his time in the NICU just last year.  It was hard, very hard – but he did ok.  It’s very intimidating to see a baby hooked up to lots of machines.
