Tropical Training Week
Mon. Jul. 21 – Thu. Jul. 24
Brevard County SKYWARN Spotters,
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service and the Florida Department of Emergency Management will be teaming up again for Florida's Tropical Training Week from Jul. 21 – 24. We are offering three training sessions at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m. EDT and will cover a different topic each day. Ultimately, it is our goal to improve your readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery to tropical weather hazards!
Registration is available via the links below:
Day 1: Seasonal Readiness & Monitoring the Tropics: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/rt/2292525071767674967
How can I prepare ahead of the peak of hurricane season? What tools and resources are available to monitor the tropics and assess the threat of tropical cyclone impacts (flooding rain, storm surge, wind, etc.)?
Day 2: Get Ready for Potential Impacts: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/rt/7737966359492825943
What tools and resources are available from the NHC and NWS forecast office as a storm approaches my community? How do I properly interpret them to better gauge my risk of impacts?
Day 3: Sheltering & Hunker Down Mode: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/rt/1671172359215620186
How can I remain safe as the storm makes its closest approach? What are proper sheltering techniques during a storm – and how can I "shelter within my shelter"?
Day 4: Post-Storm Safety & Lessons Learned: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/rt/7998617685485203035
What hazards remain in the wake of a hurricane, and how can I mitigate my risk from electrical, water, food, heat, and carbon monoxide related hazards? What lessons from prior storms could allow us to make better decisions before, during, and after the next big event?
We hope to see you there!
