I talk about my boy Andrew in boot camp, but I should take a minute to recognize my son Christopher Flavell who just got promoted to Corporal from Lance Corporal on 8/1/24 in the Marines. I just wish he knew how proud I was of him. Andrew told me when his 4 years are up next year, he wants to join the Navy to become a pilot, or come home and be a Brevard County Sheriff's Deputy. He does not have to go through boot camp again because he is a Marine!
In the Marines they start out as a Private First Class, then Lance Corporal, then Corporal. The Army is Private, Private First Class, Corporal… etc. Andrew went in as a PFC due to JROTC – which we didn't have that benefit in high school. Both my sons from birth were always soldier wannabe's and now they are!
