Ava got registered for school today at Columbia Elementary. It's a school built in '86 dedicated to the Space Shuttle Columbia, which is also the 1st shuttle built. Of course, Columbia disintegrated upon re-entry after losing a heat shield tile during liftoff in 2003 and I watched it live on t.v. They have memorials all over the school and out front a metal version of the mission patch. But then, I gotta explain to Ava this so she understands why the memorials and stuff.
Anyway, this school seems like they got their act together and I told them her situation at her former school. They grabbed her records and the OMG look on their faces. Apparently she has missed 17 days of school and this occurred even halfway through the school year.
She needs a IEP and they said not to worry, so I'm so hopeful. All staff that walked by greeted her and welcomed her, and she starts tomorrow. I know she will do much better in my arms. With all my kids I was pro-active in their education and involved with the school. Then those 2 got in their lives and created an educational nightmare. My fear is the same with my other kids that my lawyer will address!
