Well yesterday was a good day. I decided to find something to do that the kids would like. So I took the opportunity to make my daughter embrace her fear of trains in a huge way, because I’m mean like that 🙂 ha ha. So we decided to take them to Henry Ford Museum. I have been there about 30 times in my life, and it’s amazing how nothing changes. Sure, they might upgrade the building and rearrange things, but it just doesn’t thrill me anymore. Now the Smithsonian collection, I’d be in heaven a long time! Too bad it’s in Washington, D.C. I think the highlight of my trip was seeing just a Dodge Ram pickup truck sitting with all the old cars, that was just funny, and seeing a semi-truck on display and I said, “Look kids, that truck was around when I was a kid” and I felt about 90 years old. Stuff like that doesn’t belong in a museum for about 30 more years!!
It’s a massive ripoff and hated the idea of spending the amount of money requested to get in there. In the end we shelled out about $150 for 6 just for a few hours. I won’t be going again for a long time. We may hit up the village someday, but that is even more of a ripoff at $24 a person. I’m not even sure if that includes a train ride! The Titanic exhibit was good, but was not worth spending all that money for an entire family. It’s worth it for a couple people. I got yelled at to put my camera away, even though it was not on or being used, just around my neck. RMS Titanic, Inc. is a really greedy company and they should feel ashamed of themselves. They are the only for-profit company that raids the shipwreck site and then auctions off what they find for the most part. Titanic lovers hate this company! I was happy with the exhibit until bam, you walk out and into this big fancy gift shop glorifying a wreck that killed so many. In 100 years are we going to have a 9/11 museum or exhibit with a gift shop showing that disaster? It’s kind of sickening. So i was put off immediately. The exhibit itself featured some cool items, like the whistle, a compass, perfume bottles, some really nice jewelry, clothes, a complete replica of 1st class floor and a room you could walk through, a complete replica of the 3rd class passenger deck with a room, which made the movie feel real, and oh, an almost scale replica of the grand staircase. I wanted to walk to the top, but for some reason you can’t go past the 4th step. I had to pay $8 for that pic, but it was a pic worth having!
Ava decided to personally cause Henry Ford to roll over in his grave by tearing through the museum as if hell hath no fury. God she was bad most of the time, with exception to when we got her a hot dog. This is why I dread vacation, I can’t even go enjoy a day trip anywhere without going out of my mind. Car rides always start out horrendous with me threatening my hellish fury upon them, but it takes about 20 minutes to get the kids to shut up and then on the way home it always ends with a fist fight between the boys and they always end up grounded to their room for the rest of the day/night. Ahhh quality family time. Yesterday, even Caitlyn had her meltdown moments.
So not much on the agenda for today!
