Stupid Farkin Gyno's!

Well i’m 9 weeks and 2 days along today.  I feel like crap most days, which is to be expected.  It’s funny I don’t remember anything about having Andrew but I remember just about everything from Chris.  I can’t go any place that I need to walk a lot because I get sick to my stomach and faint, like really bad.  I went to Meijer this evening just for some round up to kill weeds, and I couldn’t even make it to the grocery side of the store.  I’m tired constantly and almost daily I have been taking a small nap.

So I went to the Northline Women’s Health Center today to see Dr. Norlander regarding my A1C’s.  Last week I went, everything was fine and I happened to ask what happens when it comes time to do a glucose test at 28 weeks…. since I already have type 2 diabetes, very mildly these days anyway.  My diabetes is really non-existent since I lost a lot of weight.  All of a sudden the alarms went off, and you would have thought I commited a crime.  You spend all this time filling out paperwork and telling them all your medical issues and for whatever reason, none of the stuff you fill out makes it to the back for the doctor.  Same thing at the hospital, you have to repeat whats wrong with you 100 times because nobody ever reads stuff.  I didn’t think I had to mention I have glucose issues in the past because it was right there on my paper, and I figured they knew.  Anyhow, the doctor was like, “Wellllll, you need to get your A1C’s checked because it’s office policy that we don’t accept diabetic patients”.  At this point I’m already pissed because this is a crock of boloni.  If Dr. Batchev managed me at my worst, when insulin wasn’t working and diabetes was in full swing, surely they could handle little old me that barely has diabetes these days.  So anyway, I got my blood drawn last week and I got the results today.

The doctor walks in the office and she was like, “I have great news, and I have not-so-great news”.  She said my A1C’s were perfect at just above 5… beyond perfect if you ask me.  Then she proceeded to say, that it was office policy not to accept me and that I need to see the high risk group at Oakwood.  I was thinking to myself, what a crock of sh*t.  I am far from high risk, and there is no way I’m giving up a personal experience with a doctor to go to this doctor that manages every single high risk patient in the area.  There is just no personal service with a clinic like that.   I am not high risk whatsoever… maybe my last two pregnancies because I weight 319lbs and my glucose was out of control, but definitely not this one.  And even then, Dr. Batchev felt like he could take care of me.

I am kind of glad i’m out of that practice now.  It was nice to have a clinic for all your one-stop shopping for OB needs, but they delivered solely at Wyandotte Hospital, and that just wasn’t flying for me.  Wyandotte would rather kill you than treat you properly in my opinion.  So I made an appointment with my regular OB Dr. Batchev.  At least he knows me, and knows me very well.  I am his “star” patient as he says.  He hasn’t seen me since I weighed so much so hopefully his comments will be positive rather than the usual… “well, you are overweight… blah blah blah”.  Yeah, I know i’m still overweight, but I’m much healthier than I was.  My first appointment with him is Tuesday the 29th of July.

I got my medical-grade doppler unit in the mail yesterday.  I’m renting it for the duration of the pregnancy.  I couldn’t find the heartbeat when I first got it because you typically have to be above 10 weeks, but I managed to find it for the first time the day before yesterday, right at 9 weeks.  It’s hiding between my blood vessels which you can hear very loudly, so it was hard to hear.  You can differentiate the heartbeats easily though…. a baby heartbeat is super fast.  I found it again today and it was really faint, but there.  It’s always very reassuring!
