The Birthday Celebration

JensNotes | Pura Vida

So it’s Matt’s birthday today and we celebrated it by eating out at Wolfgang Puck’s new restaurant at MGM Grand in Detroit.  Fancy, yes.  Expensive, Yes.  Worth it, NO!  Matt had a steak that cost $48.00 and you can get the same thing if not better at Long Horn for $20.00 or less, and you get sides with it.  I ordered seafood risotto… what came out was a plate that had a thin layer of risotto on it, with a few pieces of crab and some tough shrimp.  That was $36.00 and definitely not worth it at all.  Matt had butternut squash soup as an appetizer, which cost $16!  They bring out this gigantic bowl, with a small portion of the center missing with like 1/2 cup of soup in it.  If you want to get your moneys worth, you’ll have to eat the bowl too.  Anyway, our total bill with tip was like $135.00.  I’m not going back there again, the food was not worth it.

Then we sat and played video poker for like 2 hours and managed to hold off losing our money for that long.  Usually we are in and out in like 20 minutes with our money.  We aren’t good at it by any means, but we are just beginners at it.  We still have a lot to learn about it.

As we left I told my mom how much we lost because we seen her walking on patrol with another officer.  I was sulking and he co-worker attempted to cheer us up a bit.  Don’t get me wrong, we had fun, but for some reason we never leave with money!!

Well i’m off to bed now… my birthday is two weeks from today so we may try our luck again then!
