OMG the U.S. Mint rightfully pulled all their silver products, both bullion and coins to correct pricing, but they have posted new pricing which is almost criminal. The melt value of an American Silver Eagle is $70 right now, and ok, if you factor in mint packaging, you add $30. $105 was their adjusted price, up from $95 a week ago. However, the new price they provided is $173.00. I feel like the Trump administration has filtered down greed to the mint. I have to reprice all my silver to align with the market this weekend. I tried to avoid it as much as possible to be reasonable to my customers. That coin, unless silver see's $200 an ounce, will never be worth that much being it's a 2026. IF there was something special about it, fine. IT's not slabbed, it's just a proof. Silver eagles are the mints "bullion" and only carries numismatic value in a handful of years or if it's slabbed in MS70 condition. Silver rising in value is great for what I already have, it's horrible for re-stocking or buying from folks. Thankfully I just grabbed 12 pre-1900 Morgan silver dollars for $50 each, and they have a melt value of $71 depending on the moment today, not including the numismatic value.
