Christmas Time Is Nearing

JensNotes | Pura Vida

Not much going on around here this week.  It’s been a pretty boring week, not that any week isn’t just as boring.  I went to lunch with Julie on Monday… we went to Mexican Gardens.  Since I can’t eat anything I told her it’s a cheap eat for me.  I usually get one chimichanga and some beans.  With lunch they always give you free soup there so that’s a bonus.  We love Mexican gardens a lot.

I have lacked energy for the past couple weeks, and I think i’m just drained.  I’ve been pushing myself too hard I think.  I’m going to slow down for the next month and start fresh.  It seems like a 10 hour sleep isn’t enough for the past couple weeks.

It’s Christmas time now and there’s shopping to be done.  I won’t get any of it done until about 3 days before Christmas.  Hopefully there will be some good sales going on then.  I have a blank mind this year when it comes to what to get everyone.  I usually hand out gift cards to spare me the agony of figuring out what people want.  I don’t even know what to get my own kids.  They have toys… enough of them.  The problem is that when I buy them gifts, they never play with them.  The toys always end up in a million pieces scattered in various locations.  I need to keep it simple this year.  Preferably toys that are wholesome.

Matt’s parents are always the hardest to shop for.  He doesn’t even try, it’s all up to me every year.  Shipping things to the UK is too costly so I’ll probably get them visa gift cards or something.  Amazon.co.uk also comes in handy too.  Of course, with the poor exchange rate, anything I buy actually costs double.  Our dollar gets about 30 pence (cents)…so things cost a lot more.

Believe it or not I still haven’t decided if I want to go to Florida for Christmas yet.  I can’t make that decision until like the 21st of December.  I need to see what the weather is like down there, and decided whether or not I can tolerate two screaming children for 18 hours straight in the van!

Matt’s been put in a weird situation at work.  They have asked him to leave his current contract house (Keane) and move to another one, which by Matt’s choice will be Kforce, which is where he was at with Toyota.  The upside to it, ist hat he’s asking for $49.03 per hour with them, so he gets a slight raise, the downside is that the benefits aren’t quite as good.  I think he makes right around $44/hr right now, which is good for him, but not great.

He’s got another interview lined up with Google in Mountain View, California for Dec. 12th.  I’m not really all for it because obviously it’s out of state.  He won’t even consider it unless the pay is around $170,000 per year because the cost of living is horrendous in California.  Considering an apartment would cost around $2000-$3000 per month, a pay hike that big is necessary.  I wouldn’t expect Google to pay him that much though, but then again i’m not sure what they pay either.

He’s on about wanting another job, preferably in Silicon Valley where the money is, but i’m not up to moving out of state right now.  When the times are right and my mom and sister can come with me that would be when.

Must go get Chris ready for school now!
