Today my baby Andrew is one week old. Time sure does fly… I wish I could have spent that 1st week with him though. I’ve seen him like 2 whole hours during the 1st week of his life. He is such a sweet baby though.
He is still in the NICU, but has been upgraded to the progressive care nursery, which is where they go when they are about ready to go home. He’s doing well though. He started off on IV nutrition, a ventilator, oxygen, and phototherapy. Now he’s drinking a full bottle, and off the ventilator. He’s still undergoing phototherapy but that is almost done. They had to put oxygen back on him yesterday just for a little help. Other than that he’s doing great. Hopefully he will be home by the end of the week.
As far as I go, Im recovering well, although my incision is a little painful. It’s turning red in the staple holes, and not the actual incision thankfully. I’m hoping I will heal ok, but I have a good feeling the scar from this surgery won’t heal as good as the last one… it’s kind of a messy job. I have done a lot more walking than I should be.
A lady from the hospital where I was having my NST’s done called and asked why I hadn’t shown up for my appointment yesterday! I told her I had the baby last week, and she was like “oh well I guess that’s why you wouldn’t show up”.. and laughed.
Andrew is 1 week old!
