Positive change always comes out of negative situations… so from my kids school, they made a new security announcement, which I have no issues with at all.:
We will continue our drills when we return in January. You will all be seeing one immediate change. The school entrance doors will be locked at the beginning of the school day and will be unlocked at the end of the school day. Of course, parents, students, and visitors will be able to enter and exit the building but will need to knock to enter and be escorted out of the buildings. We will soon be installing a new doorbell which will allow you to simply ring the bell or knock on the door, and a staff person will greet you at the door. We will be checking identifications as well so please be sure that you have your photo identification with you. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we strive to keep our schools safe. We understand that there are times when you may be rushed, but pleas e be patient as our first responsibility for all of our students is to keep safety as our first priority.
