You learn so much more when you teach yourself. People pick at my brain for everything, and everything is self-taught. I'm especially useful in computers (almost every aspect), photography, writing, rooting/jailbreaking androids and iPhones and anything else related to technology. Don't talk to me about math or computer programming though 🙂 I think my son will have me beat in math by 5th grade, when they start calculus (lol). If I don't know it, and want to know it everyone knows I won't quit until I got it down.
