Who doesn’t remember the original Mortal Kombat game on SNES. A feeling of nostalgia comes to me when I see my kids on the Xbox playing the arcade game that I used to play when I was 15. Having my 8 year old and my 11 year old (almost) know the characters and the story is weird. I’m not a gamer now, but when I was younger I had a think for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, and then when I was 13ish I got my Super Nintendo.
So, the only 2 games I ever played on SNES were the Mario’s games, Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past and Mortal Kombat. Those were also the only games I ever beat. I think that was before I got my game genie cheating system… lol. I was going through the OnDemand movies that are free this month on Starz and noticed they had the 2nd movie, Annihilation up. Not a good movie, terrible in fact. Had they of not changed who plays a couple characters, and had they not offed Johnny Cage in the first couple minutes, it would be tolerable. But, I did download the 1st movie and naturally the kids love it. Now I have requests to add this to the kids’ tablets… in mp3 format of course!
My whole problem with gaming today are the controllers. Too many moves. In fact, I hated Mortal Kombat the game for one reason, you had to know all the moves on the controller to get the great “fatality” or “flawless victory”. I was never that good. One of the best things about class NES and SNES games though, I can emulate them and put them on my tablet (or laptop) and play my old favorites just as if I had my old system. If kids today could appreciate what a true game is without the fancy graphics, kids would not need the Xbox. I mean, I spent countless hours as a child at age 8 just mastering Super Mario Brothers…. how high could I land on the flag pole at the end of a level jumping off the blocks? And by cheating, in world #2-1 it meant busting a brick above you and walking through the entire level without any encounters of turtle things.
So Matt is home from his trip to Mississauga, in Ontario. He don’t have to go back again until mid-May or so. He was telling me it’s pretty much crazy secure place at CIBC. His clearance requires him to get his eyeball scanned along with his badge before entering. Pretty high tech 🙂 He showed up home at 5:40 yesterday, so it only took him 4 hours to get home. I always thought it was about 6 hours to Toronto but I guess I was wrong.
I need a vacation right now. I’m thinking Machu Picchu. Yeah right, i’ll be lucky to get to Florida this year. I also want to go up north again for Labor Day and to view the Perseid meteor showers in mid-August. I don’t think i’ll be hovering over any waterfalls this year though 🙂 I’m very weak right now, sinking into the hell hole of anemia and not caring much. I’m so tired of doctors I don’t want to see another one for a long time. None of them are trying to find out why this is happening to me, everyone just wants to put bandaids on the symptoms. If I find myself needing to be strapped to an IV 3x per week again I don’t know what i’ll do because Matt goes out of town too much. I don’t know the definition of the word babysitter because I’ve never had one except my mom on occasion.
Ah well, it could be worse I suppose, but I doubt it.
Reminiscing LOL
