Valentines Day 2007
Today my mom tells me that she seen her twin brother at the drug store buying a valentines card for his wife Jan. He told my mom that he bought Jan a frickin Hummer!!!!!!!! Ok, as much as I like Jan and think she is the greatest match for him and all, something has happend to that poor poor man. Everytime I see him he’s wearing like khaki’s and polo shirt. This is NOT my uncle. My uncle wears jeans and t-shirts, worn out work boots, drinks like crazy and well… it’s just not him. Something has happend over the last few years. He married this woman (a good choice) a couple years back after not knowing her very long. They bought a house here in Southgate. I first went to their house last Christmas and I was so shocked at what I saw. The whole freakin house is pink… pink this and pink that. She’s got several dogs and cats. Jan is seriously a girly girl – exactly what i’m not. When I walked into her house, I was like… oh my god, how does Uncle Kevin live here. This Christmas he showed us her present… it was a very expensive diamond ring. So anyhow, while my mom was in the drugstore he was on about how she says he don’t buy her anything… so that’s when he told her he bought her a Hummer. I cannot believe this for the life of me. Buy some jewelry, buy another $2000 hairless dog, but a Hummer? With gas prices these days he could have picked a better SUV anyway!! He’s lovestruck – but if he’s happy… whatever!
Andrew’s 2nd birthday is coming up in a week and I still have no idea what to get him or what to do. I have told everybody I will have a small get together at Chuck E Cheese. I’m not having an organized party though because there is simply not enough children in my life to do so. Chris, Andrew, Joey, and Rachel is all the kids around me. We will still have lots of fun though. In the last couple weeks Andrew has started talking more and i’m so happy. He’s still a little cranky monster though!
Only two more days until Matt is home.. I can’t wait. He sent me a bouquet of flowers in a vase today. A woman delivered it right as I was in a very angry rage from Andrew throwing a ball and shattering his ceiling fan fixture. It lightened up the moment though – until I had to vacuum up all of the shards of glass. Grrr.. that boy and his ball collection. I can’t get the light to work on the ceiling fan now, so he probably just broke the whole unit and i’ll have to replace it this weekend. We’ll see.
I went out this morning and hand shoveled the 5 inches of snow we got. I have a brand new snowblower, but I could not be bothered to trek through the snow to the shed, then drag it through the snow to the house to feed it’s electric start. It was much easier to grab the darn shovel I had waiting on my porch. It was hard work though and I about lost my hands from the cold!
Well i’m off… i’m on the phone with Julie and she’s got a stomach bug…. that sucks! I hope I don’t get sick anytime soon.
