Memorial Weekend
I had a good weekend! Friday evening we went to the parade, which is an annual thing. I had nobody to watch for this year and that was different. I enjoyed it a lot!
Saturday we traded in our POS ’05 Chrysler Town & Country for a ’06 Town & Country Touring edition. We had a lemon for the last year that spent it’s whole time in the shop practically. We were able to get a good deal despite rolling over $4,000 into a new one. I felt less ripped off than I have before. Before going to the Chrysler dealer we went to a Chevy dealer, since we have an employee discount. Our salesman there practically refused to let us even consider a Chevy Uplander (new mini-van/crossover), which is what we went in there for. He desperately wanted us to have a TrailBlazer, which I refused on because of gas mileage and lack of space for 7 people. Because I am a woman he tried to tell me that it would be less expensive to get a TrailBlazer than the new Chevy Cobalt. Now I am not that stupid! We’re talking about a $32,000 vehicle vs. a $13,000 vehicle. Not to mention the rollover on the van. I was more angered at the fact that he was resisting my urge to buy the Uplander. All he wanted was to get rid of the hundreds of TB’s on the lot that can’t sell because of gas prices. I wasn’t falling for it. We immediately left and went to Chrysler. We had a new vehicle in 2 hours and rid of that piece of sh*t.
Just don’t ask why we bought one again! Actually, I love that vehicle and it’s priceless… when it’s working. I mean who wouldn’t want the stylishness, comfort, space, and all the features. Sure it’s a $30K vehicle, but I love everything about it. The stow & go is the best, you just fold down the seats into the floor… and the power sliding doors and power lift gate are helpful!
Oh………..but what angered me most!!!! I drove the van off the lot and as soon as the odometer hit 10 miles, the service engine soon light came on!!! You cannot even imagine how infuriated I was at that moment. I just kept saying, “Oh, no way… no f*cking way, I cannot even believe this”… I think I repeated that like 10 times!!
Saturday afternoon (after a long day of car buying and devilish child behavior) we took my kids to the carnival. It freaking pisses me off now that the carnival is operated by a bunch of Mexicans. No offense to Mexicans in general, but if your in this country you need to know English. Anyway, most of the Mexicans working the carnival do NOT speak English. I went and ordered my family 2 orders of 4 fried oreos (the best in the world), and she freaking brings me back 2 oreos. You try to explain, but they just shake their heads and smile.
Sunday was boring… Monday was boring.
Today we took the van into the shop and they replaced the oxygen sensor. Just a minor thing, but ok. We have our own OBD II computer so we can read the cars computer and tell what’s wrong with it… so we knew ahead of time what to tell them to fix. I got the car back a couple hours later after taking my kids to the docs. Chris needs to see a neurologist for his hyperactivity, and Andrew needs to be on Antibiotics for his neverending runny nose. He also got 2 shots. They drove me insane in the docs. I literally was about to jump out the window from the unreal insanity that I was dealing with. Yes I have a angels that can be utter monsters at times.
Weight wise… i’m now down a grand total of 65lbs, and 85 from Feb. ’05. Not too far from my goal now. I hope to reach that by Christmas… but who knows. That will be almost 18 months post-op.
Yeah…
Something that really really makes me angry about George W. is his persistence on this war. I keep getting sickened everytime a soldier dies he says, “We must honor this soldier by finishing the war, and to defend our freedoms and liberties.” First of all, i’m willing to bet that the particular soldier does not want to be honored by finishing a war that is baseless.
My thoughts on this war… it is disgusting. We are over in Iraq for alterior motives. I can’t think of anything that would make me think our liberties and freedoms were at risk. Saddam Saddam.. yeah we knew he may have been a bad guy to his people, but really, there is more threat to the U.S. now that we’ve gone to war. We’ve managed to piss of the whole arab world, so now they all hate us and want us dead. Because of this war I feel less safe if anything. What are we accomplishing by staying over there?! So let the Arabs blow themselves off the face of the earth… they’ve been doing it for thousands of years without U.S. support. Just leave ’em alone to do what they’ve always done. As long as those boundaries don’t cross over the Arab world, we should have nothing to fear. Afghanistan is another story, they actually harbor terrorists and their organizations. That is a war we need to focus and finish on. But that took a back seat when Iraq happened. I’m a firm believer that the only reason we are even in Iraq is because Georgie was seeking out retallation from the whole deal of what went on with his father. grrr
Why keep killing troops for no reason!?
