Matt's Interviewing Skills!
How does anybody get a job without a face-to-face interview? I mean come on really! I thought it was lucky that Matt got his job at Pfizer with just a phone interview. I thought for sure that was a once in a lifetime deal. How do you hire someone you haven’t met in person? Well it has happened again! He will be leaving the truly unsecure job at Pfizer to join the ranks of thousands at Computer Associates (CA). Better pay, better benefits. They called him because they found his resume, had one phone interview with 4 people (including the v.p.), and today he was told that they are going to extend him an offer contingent on the background check. He’s still at $85K, but the benefits are supposedly at lot better and they either pay for all of them or most of them. The health insurance at his current company is outrageously priced. At CA his job is permanent, no more of this every 6 months crap that we have to worry if his job will still be there. I’m happy about that. He will be placed at DiamlerChrysler and will need to be trained they said in Massachusettes. I’m not thrilled about that part because they said it could be up to 3 weeks long. There could also be travel involved in this job.
Still though… you have to be good to get a job without a face to face interview. You have to be darn good. He’s done it twice in a row, completely unheard of to me! The upper management were very excited about his interview. It was a very technical interview that got into the depths of programming and the unix platform. They joked on the phone that it wasn’t as bad as a google interview.
Other than that, not much going on this week. It’s been a very slow week.
