Happy Birthday to me!

Thanks to all of you who wished me a happy birthday!  I really think though I had more Happy Birthday! junk mails though.  Because I sweep and every site requires your birthday it seemed like I got 1000 good wishes from every restaurant and store on the internet!  Anyhow, I had an ok day, it could have been better but I won’t complain too much  I pretty much just woke up, did my usual routine with the kids and stuff.  Chris was dropped off at school at 12:30p.m. and I went to my grandma’s house.

My grandma gave me $25, which is the usual amount.  It’s still sitting in my pants pocket.  Eventually I will do something with it.  We like to eat out so i’ll probably use it at a restaurant.  Speaking of eating out, I had quite an incident at Longhorn a couple weeks ago involving a crab bake dish that is my favorite and I get all the time.  It was sooo bad I wrote a complaint letter to the corporate offices.  I won’t get into it right now because it’s too long of a story.  Long story short though, my success rate with a good meal is only about 50%, but I love going there so I keep going back.  Anyhow, they sent me $90 in gift certificates to use there.  It really made my birthday to receive these via FedEx!

I did go to Sam’s Club with my mom and sister to pick up some items for my grandma.  Then I went home and stayed there for a while.  Later on that evening we went back to my grandma’s to have cake and ice cream.  I didn’t make myself a cake but I should have… the one my mom got from Meijer wasn’t that great.  I am appreciative that she got it, but even I think she didn’t think it was that good.

While doing my sweeps I came across this program called The Grocery Game.  It’s web-based and what they do is they match up coupons that come in the paper every week to the store sales, and by doing that you get the rock bottom prices for goods.  This is the service that people use when they tell you they spend $30 for $150 in groceries.  I can see how it works, and it works everyday for thousands of people.  It only cost $1 for 4 weeks and then $5 per month.

I have heard it is well worth it’s investment.  To become completely efficient you have to have the last 12 weeks worth of coupons, so it kind of takes some time to build your coupon file.  I have about the last 4 weeks so far.  I’ve already seen great sale/coupon combos.  Yesterday I showed my grandma how she could get pie crusts for $1.00 a piece at Meijer and how she could get one free I can’t believe it’s not butter at Kroger.

I already did my grocery shopping for this week though so I won’t actually have an opportunity to test my couponing skills until Oct. 31st.

Ah Halloween is coming and I am not looking forward too it.  Ok, I guess i’m looking forward to seeing my kids in their costumes and taking them trick or treating but I hate Halloween decorations.  It’s getting that way for Christmas too.  I mean the stores had Halloween stuff up for like a week before they started putting out the Christmas trees and decorations!  That is insane!

Ok well I’m gonna go to bed now.  I was up until 4:00a.m. yesterday because of being sick to my stomach.  Probably from the ice cream!
