Hospital Visit

Today was a day of great relief for me! I have been so worried over the past couple weeks that something was wrong with the baby. My doctor wasn’t that reassuring to me at all. He told me, “I can’t get the heartbeat” on two occasions. Yes it is still early on, and in some cases too early for the Dopplers to pick it up, but I was still very concerned. My doctor was showing concerns because of a constant dull ache I have.
Well yesterday he gave me a prescription for an ultrasound. I was so happy, yet so uneasy at the same time. I just wondered if I would end up having fetal demise or something else wrong.
We went to Wyandotte Hospital to the radiology department and waited like a half hour to get seen. At first they wouldn’t let Matt back, but I was reassured that he could come in and watch after she did her important measurements. I also mentioned that I would like pictures. The lady that performed the procedure on me was very very nice. It was a nice experience.
To my surprise and joy, we saw this little baby in there fluttering about! It had a nice strong heartbeat (168bpm), and was kicking and punching! We were able to see everything, right down to little knuckles and toes. It was very amazing. The important thing is everything is OK! Lots of relief for me too. I received several nice pictures. Matt went back to work and I emailed them to him, and he passed it around work. Matt was very happy as well.
Later that day I yelled at him for not calling me to tell me he’d be late home from work, he ended up bringing me home a dozen roses, with a picture of the ultrasound that said, “I love you mommy” on it. It was so sweet. I felt really guilty about getting mad at him for being late when he was out buying roses 🙁 Of course I apologized profusely!!
Now that things are much better I feel great about entering my 10th week. Only 2 more till Im in the “worry a smidge less” zone! I start school this week, and with this off my mind I will be able to concentrate more on my studies.
