Half-Baked
Well I’m getting close to the 20 week mark in a couple days. That means, officially my child is half-baked!! I was halfway to delivery at about 18.5 weeks though, because I will have a scheduled c-section probably at least 2 weeks before my due date, which puts it somewhere between February 9th – 14th. As long as it’s not born on Andrew’s birthday I’m ok! Andrew has his birthday on the 22nd and I definitely don’t want to be in the hospital for it.
So anyway, we found out it’s a girl!! Yay!! I was so happy I could have cried on the table. When we had my ultrasound they all knew what I wanted because I had my two boys with me, and I was also wearing lots of PINK. The first thing they did was go for the gender check. The video is posted under my videos, and she spent the 1st couple minutes just triple checking to make sure it was a girl. She said she wouldn’t have told me had she not been 100% certain. It was very obvious on the ultrasound… you look for a hamburger or a hot dog! Well, we found the hamburger. 🙂 Bad analogy, but it works.
It’s so surreal… I have two rambunctious boys, and now i’m going to have a girl! I will try my hardest to make sure she’s a “princess”… no rogue military girls! I’m going to be guilty of making her a girly girl… dresses dresses and more dresses! Pig tails and pony tails. I am not going to do what my mom and grandma did to me… make me a tomboy with short curly hair and wear old people clothes, though I’m definitely never going to hooch her out or let her wear questionable clothing. I can say all I want to say, but at least I can TRY!
Today my mom bought (or Beth, I can’t work it out) a very cute girly winnie the pooh sleeper outfit. I’ll have to take a picture of it because it’s her first outfit. Then we went to Kohls and took advantage of our $10 of $10 coupons and my mom bought a small layette, which is also very cute. I got a clearanced dress for $2.80 and another sleeper. I have a strict rule of not buying anything until I’m 24 weeks along, and I still plan on keeping to it. I am very very supersticious. Some people can run out the day the find out they’re expecting and shop, but for me I can’t do that, there are too many “what if’s” and things that can go wrong. I refused to even look at baby clothes until I found out because it could “jinx” things!!
Here is the picture of my little girl’s first outfit:

Ah anyway, now that I know I’m having a girl, I’m more protective over myself than ever. I keep thinking, oh god, now that I have what I wanted, something horrible will happen. Well I will try not to let that happen. I’ll get to 37-38 weeks and all will be well.
So aside from all this excitement it’s definitely been an interesting week with all the other stuff going on. I’m still waiting on Dr. Batchev’s office to get a bit motivated and schedule my darn diagnostic ultrasound. It’s supposed to be for 20 weeks, and it was supposed to be scheduled almost 2 weeks ago, but they got sidetracked and lazy. My sister has her appointment on Monday and so help me lordy, they better have the appointment made for me.
Ok, well I’m tired and I have a headache so I’m off to bed!
