Well it’s Easter, a really early Easter. My grandma is still in rehabilitation so she is not home, and she doesn’t want us to bring her home for the day because she won’t want to go back. She should be home sometime soon… I would say within two weeks if everything keeps getting better. She has to be able to take care of herself to come home. Yeah, my mom, brother, and sister are there to help her, but that can only go so far. She has to be able to walk to her bed, the bathroom, and the kitchen. She also needs to be able to manage to two steps in front of the house. Her physical therapist said they would start working on those things soon. I think my grandma actually likes it there. At first she was sad when she went there, but now she rarely complains, except about her neighbors being too noisy at night.
My other grandma I guess is doing a lot better, thankfully. Everyone had me under the impression she was ready to pass. I don’t think it was quite her time. I wish I could go visit her, but unfortunately right now I am unable to make the trip there. I will be in Las Vegas in May, so hopefully I can get a chance to drive down to the Las Cruces, NM area. I don’t know how reasonable my expectations can be… LV is 10 hours from their city… I really want too though. I haven’t seen them since Chris was an itty bitty baby.
So, for Easter as far as I know we are doing absolutely nothing. For the kids this morning, I gave them each a very small basket with a very little amount of candy (for a reason), and they each got one present. Chris got a microscope and telescope kit from Smithsonian, and Andrew got some sidewalk chalk. Both have been having a blast so far with each. I’m not into the whole “Easter Bunny” thing as much as others are. I don’t want to load my kids up with candy either. We still have to go over my mom’s and I’m sure she made up for my lack of candy, or so I hear. It’s alright I suppose!
I told my mom I didn’t want Easter dinner though, without grandma. It’s just not the same. I wanted to pick her up and take her out for dinner, but like I said earlier, she doesn’t want to leave and have to go back. So my plans are uncertain at this moment in time, and it’s almost 1p.m.
Right now I’m making a fresh french baguette from scratch. I’ve gotten pretty good at bread making so I enjoy doing it. My only problem is I can never cut a loaf right. I bought a plastic guide, but the slices seem too wide for a typical loaf of white bread.
