Christmas is over!

I am so thankful Christmas is over.  I love giving gifts and all, but sometimes it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.  There are certain folks out there that just don’t give a hoot.  It would be nice if once and while Matt and I got a “thank you” for some of the things we get people.  In fact, we have gone out of our way for the last several years at Christmas.  It’s all me too… Matt has no input on gifts.

I didn’t feel like my mom had any “wow” factor in her Christmas gifts.  Normally I get her something that is like “oooooh ahhhhh” and stuff.  This year she got a really nice comforter and 4 egyptian bath towels.  It doesn’t look or sound like much, but it was almost $200 for that.

I just felt less than worthy this Christmas I guess!  It seems like I could have done better by getting people better things but really I had trouble this year.  Maybe next year will be better.   We almost lost my friend Julie’s  Christmas present.  I got her a $50 Longhorn Steakhouse gift certificate and I  taped it to Joey’s present about a month ago.  Well when Matt went to fetch the gift from the basement, the card was missing off of the present.  I freaked for a while, but then we found it between some boxes.  I just want 2007 gone, and I will welcome 2008 in with a nice stiff drink!

Anyhow, we went to Chuck E Cheese on Christmas Eve morning and exchanged gifts with Julie & Joey.  She gave us a bag of candy and a gift certificate to Salvatore Scallopini.  We used that a couple nights ago and the food was good.  Andrew got a ball yard or something like that and I’m sure he will greatly enjoy it once we figure out where to put it !

A year ago today or something close to it we were on our way home from Florida.  I wish we were there right now, it’s cold.  Hopefully in just 1 1/2 months we’ll be on a Disney Cruise. I hope to book it within a week or two.  Very last minute, but very needed for me to keep my sanity.

Matt finished his first semester at Wayne State.  He got an A and an A- so far.  He’s doing really well.  Hopefully he’ll finish his masters in another year.  It just opens up so many more doors for him, and opens up negotiation room for his salary.  I’m proud of my guy!

Iris McCormick is in town and we went to Julie’s the other night and watched knocked up.  I was a little overboard on my wisecracks to her but I can’t help it.  She knows I’m a “wiseguy” and I like to say stupid things sometimes.  I always do it and I can’t help it… I think it’s funny because some of the reactions she has are great.  We also went to Panera Bread today and sat and had some quiches before she leaves tomorrow.

Ok well, I’m gonna go take a shower….. I have a headache!
