A long blog
The last week has been weird. My grandma went into the hospital a week ago last Friday and she was prematurely released the day before Thanksgiving. Since then she keeps going on about how she’s not feeling well, and that “she’s not all there”. Today I call over there and say, “Well since it’s going to be 60 degree’s today, and probably the warmest day until spring, we should take grandma to the store to get her shopping done.” Well my mom asked my grandma while I was on the phone and she said, “No, my heart rate is too high.”. I was like, what the hell is she doing home from the hospital then. If she can’t go anywhere or do anything because her heart rate is too high then she should not be at home. That is what she went in for in the first place.
On Thanksgiving day I went over there to cook the entire feast as I usually do every year. My grandma struggled to get a chair and move it 2 feet to sit down, and when she did that she was all out of breath and complaining like she’s going to die or something. I feel really horrible, but the hospital is a better place for her right now.
The rest of the day went ok, the meal turned out ok, except for the fact that I got one bite down my throat and had to toss the rest of my food away. I guess for someone like me shouldn’t have bread as their first bite of food. I made a great meal too, and I wish I could have had some. I made the turkey, which turned out excellent – it was moist and flavorful. I also did homemade cranberry sauce, stuffing, and baked cinnamon apples. My mom made the sweet potatoes and some corn. I told her i’d make homemade italian bread rolls, but she had bought some from the store already.
I did brave the holiday crowds to go to Walmart & Target. They were not as bad as I thought they’d be. I didn’t buy but one gift though. I hate people in general so I tend to stay away from crowded places. I’ll go shopping during the week.
I have a small shopping list this year. I’m not spending a bagillion dollars this year like I do every year. I did get Matt the stupid Magellan Roadmate 2000 gps system that he’s been wanting. I got my mom a vacuum sealer that she wanted… I have the actual food saver, but I got my mom the Black & Decker version. I have to keep Christmas cheap if I want to go to Florida.
Right now we are undecided if we want to go to Florida during the Christmas week. I have like 2 whole weeks left to make the decision. Do I deal with the Christmas crowds that will be in Orlando for that week, or do I wait for the off season? If not, then I will either go to Castaway Bay, which is owned by Cedar Point and is located in Sandusky, or I will go to the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth for a couple days. Tell me Marty… is it really worth it?
We have so much to accomplish in the next year I feel overwhelmed. We have to get back to England to see Matt’s parents, go to Florida (I hope!), get a new roof, new siding, an awning and rails for our new porch, and Matt needs a newer used car because he’s selling his to Beth. One may not realize how many thousands of dollars all that is, but it’s a lot. We are taking things one step at a time, although England is #1 priority because Matt’s relatives have not seen Andrew yet and he’s going to be 2 years old. They haven’t seen Chris since he was 18 months old, and he’s now 4 1/2 years old.
Ah well…. next onto Christmas. If things go downhill with my grandma, Christmas may not be a good time this year. I hope not though, my grandma has been the closest person in my whole life. My aunt Sherryl died a couple days after Christmas last year, I would not want two Christmases in a row to be bad. Ahhhhhh life.
