Life in Mid-July

My day has been ok aside from the whining and screaming that my kids do all day long to drive me nuts.  Like right now, i’m taking a moment while their dinner cools on the stove and I hear things like, “come on Andrew” “scream from Andrew”, that follows with me yelling at Chris, only for a few seconds of quiet until he’s aggrevating his brother even more.  I just walked in there and watched Chris wack his brother with a foam spongebob chair.  He didn’t know I was standing there so the minute I said, “What is wrong with you” he jumped and turned around.

I went to the Y this morning and walked for an hour and a half at a pretty fast pace, and ended up doing a bit over 4 miles.  When I got off the treadmill I thought I wouldn’t be able to walk that’s how flimsy I was.  It’s so amazing…. I cannot walk in a straight line at all.  On the treadmill I have to hold on, otherwise i’d fall over my feet.  I can’t even barely let go to get some water out of my bottle.  I don’t know how those people do it that move their arms too.  I can’t even walk on a sidewalk in a straight line.  If i’m pushing Andrew i’m constantly tripping over myself.

Matt got his first paycheck from his new job at Pfizer and I was initially pleasantly surprised it was for $100 more than it should have been.  It was a one week check and it was only supposed to net $1300, but it was $1400.  After I got thinking I flipped out and looked at the stub only to find out that they didn’t take enough taxes out.  I’m into the whole accounting thing so I know what should and shouldn’t be there.  I had his checks figured out right down to the penny based on our current exemptions and all the tax rates, etc.  After wondering for what seemed like forever on why this occured, we found out that they still figure in a bi-weekly tax rate, even if it’s only a one week check.  How pathetic.  You’d think a major company would have a competant payroll system.

I didn’t end up going to the Taylor-tucky fireworks this year, instead I sat at home on my couch and watched them over the trees… well sorta.  Half came above the trees.  I just don’t like crowds so the thought of dealing with havoc didn’t please me.  On Saturday we did take the kids to the festival and Chris had a ball riding all the kids rides.  I do have to say that they have the best carnival geared towards little kids that i’ve ever seen.  Most have very few kiddie rides, but I was pleasantly surprised.  There were way more kid rides than adult rides.

On Sunday night I went to Julie’s house so she could take out her elephant ear craving on me.  She decided to try and make them herself, and I had one.  They tasted good, but were missing something special.  Perhaps it’s the dirty old oil they cook it in at the carnival?  My favorite carny food is fried oreo’s, but now that I know how to make them at home I will never buy them again.

Yesterday we went to dinner with my mom and sister.  I’m surprised we are not banned from restaurants!  We ate at Big Boy, which under normal circumstances is against my religion, but they actually have a new dish on their menu that’s pretty ok tasting.  I mean, I had had better dishes of this type but it was ok for Big Boy.  They threw us in the corner of the restaurant, isolated from the rest of the public.  Thank god because Andrew was whipping spaghetti everywhere, as well as some lemons.  Chris was being naughty, and our whole dysfunctional family just added to it.  We hurried up and left, knowing the mess they had to clean up.  When i’m in a restaurant I normally pick up after Andrew, but our waitress was less than ideal so I didn’t mind, especially for leaving a good tip.
